Raja has a work experience spanning over two decades in diverse industries in India including automotive tyres, leather, food & beverages and batteries. He worked in Unilever Group for almost a decade and had numerous roles in finance, sourcing, commodity buying and trading.

He worked with Duracell India as the CFO and Human Resources Director before joining GE in 1997 as Vice President - Finance at GE Lighting, where he helped the business restructure to gain stability and helped build a viable operation. He then moved to the position of Director Finance & Business Development at GE Corporate India where he completed the joint venture buyout for GE Plastics in India, and facilitated the setting up of Software operations for Aircraft Engines and Appliances.

Raja has also championed the Finance Management Program in India - doubling the size, increasing the diversity and building a strong Finance Talent Pool for Corporate audit staff and Global Finance teams of GE.

He moved to GE Healthcare as the Vice President Finance and Business Development leader for GE Healthcare India and was instrumental in building a strong Controllership Culture and Finance organization that helped the business turnaround to Profitability with strong Cash flows and Predictability.


Shortly thereafter he was made the CFO for Asia Growth Markets comprising of India, South East Asia, Australia and New Zealand and South Korea, where he helped set up the new region as an independent Pole and built a platform for Growth.

In 2004, Raja was made Managing Director of Wipro GE Healthcare, the flagship company of GE Healthcare in India, and President and CEO of GE Healthcare South Asia. In the past two years, he has helped the business register strong growth in revenues, profitability and gain market share. During this period, the company saw the launch of new and high end technology products in diagnostic imaging, value products made in India for India and forging strong customer relationships with all leading hospitals and leading diagnostic imaging centers across the country.

Raja is a qualified Chartered Accountant and Company Secretary.

Raja resides with his wife, two children and his parents in Bangalore.

* Mac 400 is a battery operated ECG System that can do 100 ECGs in one battery charge and interpret ECG in English for rural physicians
* Tejas XR 6000 X-ray System is the first Digital X-ray system to be manufactured in India and marketed at 1/3rd cost of imported digital x-ray systems. It is also the first convertible x-ray system - customers can opt for an analogue version and convert to a digital system at their convenience, at site.
* Lullaby Phototherapy system is designed to treat new borne babies with Jaundice safely.

GE Healthcare South Asia – Primary Business Units and Manufacturing plants:
* Wipro GE Healthcare is a joint venture between GE and Wipro Corporation. 51% equity in the joint venture is held by GE (USA) and 49% by Wipro Corporation. Wipro GE Healthcare is the marketing, sales and service wing of GE Healthcare South Asia. This unit also manufactures ultrasound, patient monitors, fetal monitors, ultrasound probes etc. for India and rest of the world.

* GE BE Pvt. Ltd, a joint venture between Bharat Electronics Limited (26%) and GE (74%), designs, develops and manufactures X-ray & CT Tubes, sub level components, HV Tanks and Detectors. The GE BEL facility in Bangalore is the largest integrated tube plant in GE. GE BEL has received recognitions for highest export in electronics hardware from year 1998 - 2006.

Partnerships and Pilots to create access to quality health care.

* Partnership with Manipal Hospital, Bangalore for mobile cardiac screening. Vehicles are set up and equipped with portable cardiac ultrasound and monitoring devices to go to doorsteps of people in tier small towns/villages and screen asymptomatic people for cardiac diseases.
* Partnership with NICE Foundation for running maternal infant care pilots in the state of Andhra Pradesh. This will cover tribal areas as well as Municipality level hospitals.
* Partnership with Grameen Bank in Bangladesh for providing high quality care for the pregnant mothers and new borne babies.
* Partnership with VIVUS hospitals - Mobile Cardiac Treatment vehicle – equipped with mobile cardiac cathlab to do interventions at the doorstep of the patient.
* Joined hands with Celestial Biologicals, Ahmedabad to set up India’s first plasma fractionation facility. Set up first of its kind distribution network for Life Sciences to market ready to use bio-processing and drug discovery products.
* Public Private Partnerships: Set up a successful model of Public Private Partnership model for high-end imaging with Government of Madhya Pradesh and improved and replicated the model in Gujarat. This includes a centralized telemedicine facility for the state of Gujarat. Exploring the possibilities of replicating this all over India as well as expanding the scope to basic care.
* Signed agreement with Phoenix Medical Systems India for design nd distribution of low cost, high quality maternal infant care systems.
* Set up first Integrated Development Center in Bangalore to conduct multi-country clinical trials, learn and develop new imaging agents or find new indications for existing agents. The studies are being done with Manipal Hospital.
