Whatever is currently happening on the real estate front may be good for the long-term health of the industry. In many of the locations in the country, housing prices had reached unsustainable levels. They were not justified by the earning of the population for which they were meant. And so there was a mismatch. This was partly fuelled by the high land prices, so the benefit was not accruing solely to the developers, but largely to the land owners. Long term players will be comfortable with a steady growth rather than windfall gains. Pavan Bakeri, Director, Bakeri Group (http://www.bakeri.com/) November 2, 1 pm
