Viinod Nair

"A picture is worth a thousand words. Cliched, but true. To draw a picture with your mind is far more difficult than to draw on a paper. Describing what you see is even more difficult for someone who hasn't seen the picture. Which is what makes it that much more a challenge to create imagery that is so vivid in expression and yet tells a compelling tale, and makes this business of visual imagery so fascinating."

Here are a few questions for a possible email interview.
1) It may sound basic, but as someone in a company that is miles deep images, what do you see as the most salient features of a good visual? As a corollary, what goes into a successful photographer?
2) When integrating a visual into text, what are the dos and donts?
3) How important is it for an imagery to pay attention to cultural nuances? Any examples?
4) In which of the three verticals do you see the highest growth? What have been the trends over the years, in India and elsewhere?
5) Can you tell us about your foray into videos? Do they offer a value proposition to the customers, especially when videos are plentily available in the public domain?
6) You spoke of moviemakers using Getty footages. Any recent examples? Also, do these footages seamlessly integrate with the movies?
7) Do consumers get the benefit of your research for locating the right image to convey their ideas?
8) A few words on the user interfaces to make online search effective.
9) How do you combat piracy?
10) Any other points of interest?
