Rajeev Purnaiya

"I blog, therefore I am! The awareness of one's existence is mediated by a few key nodes, such as search engines and social networks. For instance, if you don't show up on Google, you practically don't exist for the 6.6 billion plus people, that is, the rest of the world. Which is why digital divide is a big problem. The irony is that there are almost 5 billion people without access to the computing and networking. The mobile phone is the first step in bridging the digital divide. We at Hooeey see ourselves as the long-term memory for your digital activity, by archiving the URLs visited and extracting meaning for the user."

Journey of hooeey

Before hooeey was developed, it was impossible for the average Internet user to tame the World Wide Web. The net itself has millions of websites but only a minuscule portion of the Internet is relevant to each Internet user. Rajeev Purnaiya, himself an avid internee surfer, believed that web users the world around would face the same problems, and proceeded to ratify his belief that people would find immense value in recording, retrieving and analyzing their browser history.

His brainstorming sessions with his peers, members of the development community as well as more intense internet addicts reiterated the needs and helped to formulate the wish list.

The wish list apart from his own earlier observations, also highlighted on sharing with like minded net surfers- an ode to the web 2.0 era.

The wish list was then translated to a features list and a technical team was hired in mid 2006. The team then developed the core functionalities and hooeey was launched for beta testing in early 2007. The feedback from the test users has been incorporated, and various optimum features like tagging and folders were also included.

In May 2007 Apparatus Media, were roped in as a design team aiming at enhancing usability. The design team worked closely with the hooeey technical team to ensure the ease of use. Following hooeey's interactions with the design team, features like web tours, the time line graph and ratings were incorporated.

In October 2007, the newer version of hooeey was uploaded, with the aim of ironing out any small hitches.

Today, we officially launch hooeey. A result of a deep understanding of Internet user's requirements, translation into a robust architecture, adaptation using the latest in software technology and rich in features and user interface.

Hooeey has always been an endeavor to read the pulse of its user, and towards this end the entire team believes that the launch is a new beginning with periodic requirements for better features, and a responsibility towards the Internet community to provide services in an unintrusive and secure platform.
