Bhavesh Patel – Managing Director, founded Marck Biosciences Ltd in 1997 as a company that manufactured and marketed IV Fluids. Today the company boasts of products like irrigation solutions, formulations in ophthalmic and respiratory care, diluents and small volume injectibles.
Mr.Bhavesh holds a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering and a Master’s degree in Business Administration with finance.
The biggest of all challenges that came on the way of Marck was that the man who started the company had absolutely no knowledge of the pharmaceutical industry. To overcome this, Mr.Bhavesh handled the dual responsibilities of both keeping track of the pharmaceutical Industry as a whole and identifying the business strategies that would make Marck premium brand not only in India but even abroad.
In its very first year of its inception, the company generated an annual turnover of Rs 6.5 crore. In the second year, it almost doubled the turnover touching a whopping Rs 11 crore. Mr. Patel attributes this fast growth because of the rational mix of investment and diversified business strategies.
The man behind Marck has more dreams to work on as it aims to get into the top 50 league for IV fluids. With enough capabilities, enough versatility and good amount of experience, it plans to shift its focus from manufacturing to marketing.
Marck Biosciences is an Ahmedabad based company with its facility located at Kheda. 75% of work force consists of female who comes from nearby villages. The company undertook many activities like those of sports, cultural and personality development. Training them on etiquettes- office, personal and roads, Hygiene on plant and homes, etc. many such avtivities are carried out to help the employees face the competition as well as prepare them for the global scenario.

Mr. Bhavesh Patel underwent an intense training from Overseas Machinery Supplier to make Marck’s Kheda facility, the state-of-the-art technology centre with ISO certified and cGMP compliance. Also Marck has formulation and development capabilities along with an imbibed culture conductive for knowledge based activity.

Besides his executive functions on the board at Marck Biosciences, Mr. Patel brings his formidable definition, vision and entrepreneurial skills to each project. Marck's customer base in contract manufacturing includes companies like Dr Reddy's, Torrent, Cadila, Themis, Zydus, Shreya, Glenmark, Ranbaxy and international customers from USA, South East Asia and Africa. What gives the company an edge over others is that it is the only company producing 0.5 ml injectibles to 1,000 ml irrigation solutions. In both LVP and SVP categories, Marck directly sells the products in both international and domestic markets. Since it exports to different countries a well-laid distribution network gains prime importance. The company manufactures the products and gives it to its clients who are the distributors and they further take it to the next step of supplying it to the hospitals.
