Anand Sudarshan

"We are going through a fundamental transformation in education. Like all transformations, we do not know when it started, or when it will end. But this much is certain that there is a generational transformation currently going on, globally and in India. In the process, many of the axioms that we now assume to be true need to be questioned. For instance, the University system that we all follow is about four to five centuries old, and it is what has been adopted from England. What is missing is contextualisation. If human context is missing in education, we are missing the bus. Because like all good things in life, the system has to morph, so as to be relevant."

Dear Anand, I think we still miss the point that globalization has its own benifits as well as drawbacks. If we keep following global univs we might adopt new approaches like the year long evaluation system rather than mid-year or end-year exams but at the same time if we focus too much on application students might fail to understand the basics. I believe education as a sector is gorowing there is little too much to do and hence a big opportunity to someone like manipal.
